This is a bit late in coming, but I would still like to blog about it anyway. A couple of weeks ago, I went to watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them with my mom. My mother, being not really familiar with the amazing works of J.K. Rowling, didn't quite get the movie, but she was nonetheless impressed with the cinematography and visual effects. I can almost bet that the post-production company for which I had worked, had provided some of the matchmoving in this film. As the end credits rolled, there were many names (by studio) that I recognized as former clients of mine. Movies like this are why I love doing what I do and working in this industry.
Anyway, as one could expect from watching a J.K. Rowling and David Yates masterpiece come to life, this film was pretty much everything one could hope for. It was both beautifully shot and visually stimulating with a great cast. I feel that there is not a better person to have played the role of Newt Scamander than Eddie Redmayne. In my opinion, he fits the somewhat awkward personality of Scamander just nicely.
After having seen the movie, I was so taken away with the story that I went straight to the book store to buy myself a copy of the book. Merry Christmas to me! And since I have to work through the holidays, being whisked away into the magical world will have to do for now! Happy Holidays everyone!!
